I finished the first two books in this series in 3 days. I've already started the third book. I can't seem to put them down. Although Brianna coming to live with Stephan was done in an unconventional way, he saved her. Hopefully he won't get in trouble for it. His feelings for her are understandable, although I wonder about her feelings for him. He is her lifeline and she never did get to experience a normal relationship with a man. In any event his devotion to her is unparalleled. He is an alpha male, a dominant, yet he is so gentle with her. He seems to be wise beyond his years. I have a feeling I will finish this series in a couple of days. If I didn't have to do lesson plans I would probably finish them today. Read these books. Make sure you start with book one which is free. You won't be disappointed.Tags : Need [Sherri Hayes] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. They say don’t judge a book by its cover. I would have to say for me in this case it would be don’t judge a book by its name. I assumed from the title Slave I would be reading the standard BDSM Master/Slave story. Boy oh boy was I wrong.
The Finding Anna series by Sherri Hayes has to be one of the most tender, passionate love stories I have read in quite a while. Character so deep and rich with emotions they bleed onto the pages and into your heart. A storyline so unique and defined to perfection it was impossible for me to put these books down. Each book in this series is well scripted and focuses in on one exact point with undertones of the broader storyline.
We start book one Finding Anna with one strong well defined character and one character so broken you wonder if it is possible to mend not only the mind but the heart and body. The meeting, the horror, the truths and lies. The hope, the despair and the intense desire will keep your eyes locked on the pages while the world around you ceases to exist.
Book Two Need picks up right where book one ended and the journey of acceptance in its many forms is learned, applied, disregarded and accepted. Realization and discovery of wants, needs and desire plays a major factor in this story and the internal conflict is written beautifully.
Book Three Truth brings a sense of happiness, confusion, longing and despair. Forces from outside of the cast of characters we have met in books one and two makes this a compelling, fierce story while it still graces us with the core of the series. Love, acceptance, forgiveness, betrayal, hopes and dreams.
Book Four Trust takes us full circle. It provides us with a story of hope and survival. It shows strength, will and how much each character is willing to give of themselves.
The entire Finding Anna series is a beautiful story of losing and finding yourself. The tenderness is which the story is written is perfect. Each and every character good or bad is written with wonderful detail. Upon the pages of this series we are treated to the breakdown and beautiful rebuilding of life and love. We are shown patience, dedication, honor, faith and truths. Each and every twist and turn in this story was fantastic and only added to the already wonderful storyline.
I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a love story. One that is filled with hope, healing and compassion. A story that will break you down and build you up and make you yearn for the happy ever after.
Sherri Hayes is a talented writer when it comes to bringing characters to life, and she does a fine job writing believable dialogue BUT this story is incredibly slow. I read Slave, and really enjoyed it, so I was eagerly awaiting Need. Now that I've read it, I don't feel it lived up to the purchase price or the anticipation. Need picks up right where Slave left off, and it's just page after page of Anna crying and freezing in the most ordinary of circumstances (spoiler alert in a coffee shop; in a dressing room at the mall; at a restaurant). I understand creating tension and build-up, but here we have a full length novel where not much of anything happens. I don't mean to make light of Anna's trauma, but I imagine at some point the author intends to actually develop Anna's character--otherwise, why continue the series? I did enjoy the writing style (Hayes' descriptions are detailed without being too wordy and the alternating POV works well here), and I still love the characters. The downside is just that the book seemed to span one bland and uneventful week. There was at least a little progress in Anna indvidually and in her relationship with Stephan, but not enough to support a whole novel. Given all the issues raised by the subject matter (former slave; human traficking; PTSD; BDSM), the potential for great character and plot development is endless. Despite this, instead of moving the story along, it felt like the author deliberately dragged the book out, circling in a holding pattern to leave the door open for another book. While I am invested and would like to know how Anna's story will end, I am somewhat dissapointed by this installment. I think if you give this book a chance, you'll probably enjoy it, but I would just caution you to not expect too much by way of storyline.
I totally loved this book. It is number two in the series and I can't wait to buy number 3. It is very likely that I will be buying number 4 as well. This book was a great mix of sexual heat and tension. It had many parts that showed warmth. As a survivor of sexual abuse myself, many things in this book are very easy to relate to. This books fills my heart with hope for the future. My only suggestsion is to add a trigger warning in the description of this book. It needs more then a simple "may contain triggering material and sexual suggestions". But I totally love this book. I can't say enough good about it.
While a bit on the slow side, I am finding this series quite good, as the slowness is part of the realism of the series. Stephan and Brianna's situation is unique. Brianna is slowly trying to adapt to a "regular" life after being held as a sex slave. She is just beginning to feel comfortable with sex. She still has panic attacks and flashbacks when she's out in public. Although one can easily make the case that in addition to (or instead of) Stephan's care, she needs a kink friendly, trauma victim specialist, and I would, but this is not real life after all. The characters feel real to me, though and that makes for an excellent book. I've already started part 3.
