I liked El, but honestly I couldn't understand why she wanted revenge in the first place. Jeremy lied to her about who he was and what he did for a living. But in order for this story to work, it had to happen. There are surprises and turns you don't see coming. But El does get a happy ending.

This was quite a nasty book about a woman unjustly jailed for protecting the reputation of her dead husband who is a trafficker of drugs and people. She emerges from prison determined to get her revenge and sets about doing so in a thoroughly stupid and illogical way. There is physical torture in this book and nasty sex -- which the characters engage in to assert power or gain information or advantage. The book winds up in a scene of appalling violence that one can perhaps accept as a twisted fantasy - but never in real life.
This was the first book I read by P J Adams. It was a quick read and pretty good. I'll definitely read more of her work.
Black Widow is a book that you have to go in to with a very open mind; it’s a very dark story. Parts did seem to drag for me but not to the point that I didn’t enjoy the book. I think Polly did a great job on keeping you entertained in the book and ever better job at keeping you guessing with the outcome of this one. I didn’t see the outcome of this book coming till the very end which is very surprising for me because I can usually guess what way the author is going to take or at least have a clue. I’m not use to this dark of a romance it was a change for once. This is not your normal romance troubled story it much darker than that, if you can handle that you will enjoy the book.

This book is a gripping romance thriller, a "dark romance" that pulls you in from the first page and never lets go. If you've been looking for a dark romance where the heroine is tough and independent and not drifting through life waiting for a man to give her direction, this book is for you.

The storyline is complex, but easy to follow. I never got lost as the narrative wove the past and present together to build a vivid picture of how El reached this point.

This book will keep you guessing and gasping, but it never feels overdone or piled on. Grab it for a dark romance experience you're not soon to forget.
One wicked dark read! I've enjoyed Miss Adams' previous books, but this one takes things up a notch. There are lots of new dark romances dropping lately. I'm pleased to find one that's riveting, sexy, and packs some serious suspense.

We're quickly introduced to El, a twisted young lady hellbent on revenge. Adams walks us through the why piece by piece, and it's a fascinating story. Not an easy one either, but then this is a dark romance, and I wouldn't expect anything less.

This book brings together a strong heroine who later faces some serious threats to her bad streak. It's heavy romance, part psychological thriller, and part suspense too. I love the mystery element woven throughout the story too. There's tons of shock and awe that left my jaw hanging, especially at the beginning. Fortunately, Adams walks us through El's trials, and by the end of the book one understands why she is the way she is and where her future is heading.

This is the first book I have read by this author. This book is extremely good. I never saw the twist. I will be reading her other work. This is a must read.
I could absolutely put myself in El's place wanting revenge for what happened to me as a result of others' manipulation of facts I was not privy to. I believed my husband was dead. I would not have trusted his best friend but I do not think I could have mutilated him that way but then I had not been fighting for my life in prison either. Revenge is a powerful weapon. Too bad it hurts the revenger more than the one revenged because it steals your peace and your soul. Read how the Black Widow escapes her revenge to find something better. And who did that better turn out to be?
